Analyzing Rupert and Emma’s Relationship, Part One
Just wanted to acknowledge the rumor spreading that Rupert Grint was supposedly “confirmed” to be dating actress Georgia Groome; While that rumor has yet to be officially announced by the Grint himself (or his reps for that matter), I still stand by my observations on my blog and actually think that him having a relationship with anybody other than Emma is further proof of his feelings, which we’ll get to eventually. But now it’s on to part one of my analysis: Emma and Rupert’s reaction to the Ron and Hermione relationship during their interviews.
I’m sure most of you have been obsessively watching interview videos from the pair, whether it be on youtube or on television, so I know most of these will not sound new to all of you. But let’s start by noting their initial reaction to the most anticipated kiss (in history, I would say): Rupert and Emma claim that their kissing experience was “horrible” and was comparable to “kissing my brother” or “my sister”. I have one huge issue surrounding this; no matter how close they are, they are still considered professionals and are only expected to act that way, so why was it such a big deal to kiss a friend just for the sake of acting? Simple.. because there are feelings attached. Imagine kissing a good friend who you have feelings for as opposed to a good friend who is just that; I’m almost positive that the lot of you wouldn’t have too much of a problem kissing somebody who was just a friend, but it would be so awkward to kiss a crush, wouldn’t it? Remember that Emma also had to kiss Dan, and as I expected, Dan reacted the way a normal guy would:
“I’m not complaining! It was good. It was vigorous.”
As you can see, Dan’s reaction was more, how shall we say, honest than Rupert’s reaction. That just confirms my observation that though it is a bit awkward to kiss somebody you’ve grown up with, having no feelings for them makes it go by much smoother, like Dan and Emma’s kissing experience. Look at it this way: they’re both very young guys having to kiss a very beautiful young woman; I don’t think there’s a sane guy in the world who would complain about kissing Emma! But let’s move on to Rupert and Emma’s reactions after being asked about the Ron and Hermione kiss about a hundred more times.. and believe me when I say, their wall was REALLY coming down!
Their initial reactions quickly turned into several reactions that just make no sense to me. It went from Rupert not remembering how good the kiss was to him stating that the kiss was good and that Emma was a good kisser. Which one is it Rupert? You can’t remember the kiss? Or perhaps you can’t remember because it was just so good that it blew your mind away? That’s the only logic I can come up with between those two answers. Also, it went from Emma frantically wanting to get it over with to her saying that the kiss happened in such “a magical way” and it was a “you are the love of my life” kind of moment. Even their body language in these interviews shifts into random scratching, looking at the floor, dazing off into space, etc. All signs of being embarrassed about something; in fact, there is a blog on tumblr that thoroughly explains the psychological processes that go on behind the reaction and body language between Rupert and Emma, and once I can find the link I will post it to my blog. But anway, as you can see, while the initial reactions were of denial, they eventually eased over to admitting how they really felt about the kiss. Dan notes as well that he thought they enjoyed kissing each other, maybe even a little too much.
In other interviews (those NOT concerning the kiss), I can still observe hints of a secret crush lingering between the two of them. For instance, in an interview from a while ago, Rupert was asked whether or not he would like a Hermione type character in his life. He responded by “Well Emma and I are - well, not me and Emma but Ron and Hermione, something might happen with those two.” He asked about HERMIONE Rupert, not EMMA! Clearly he’s thinking about having Emma as a girlfriend and not the character she plays, huge difference there, but I can understand that after playing the same character for half your life, they start to become one and the same.
Also, another interview (which I cannot stop watching) was that by Emma on Regis and Kelly after the filming of the first Deathly Hallows film. This is the only interview I know the link to because I watch it so many times, so feel free to watch as well (take note 4:55 to 6:00):

Emma is obviously joking when she says that her and Rupert are getting married, but what really gets me is that when Regis asks her whether her ring is from Dan or Rupert, she responds with “It’s from the Grint, come on” in a sort of “Well, obviously” manner. What does she mean by that? Howcome Dan is automatically ruled out? I think a silent fantasy was let slip in this interview, don’t you think?
That about does it for part one, I may have left out some things that were in my head but I’ll be sure to post them as they come along after the final post of my whole analysis. In part two, I’ll be discussing Rupert and Emma’s chemistry offscreen, so stay stuned for that! :)

I completely forgot to include one of the most important interviews they had, which was on Larry King Live. Rupert asked Emma who she liked better, him or Dan. Then she goes off to make that shy, smiling face she always makes, looking at the floor and answers “both”. Why would he ask that if there wasn’t some sort of attraction between them? It’s as if he already knows the answer and he’s just trying to make her feel awkward. So much sexual tension here, I can’t even stress!
Analyzing Rupert and Emma’s Relationship, Part Three
Sorry for the small delay in getting part three out, I try to write quick and get one post out every day but I’ve been very busy (with school starting up soon and working at the same time). But all that aside, I’m ready to fulfill your cravings for more Rupert and Emma goodness! In part two, I discussed the chemistry between the pair off-screen. Now I’ll go into my observations about their chemistry onscreen and explain how this all the more contributes to their relationship.
Some critics of the Rupert/Emma relationship may be thinking, “What? On-screen chemistry? Of course they’ll have on-screen chemistry, their characters are in love! It’s called acting.” And while I’m a “Ron and Hermione until the day I fall over to my grave” type of fan, yes, I’m aware that they’re automatically going to have some sort of spark on-screen because their characters are destined lovers, but once again I must bring up the whole Harry/Ginny, Dan/Bonnie matter. No chemistry WHATSOEVER! I think both of the actors are gorgeous but together, they just look.. awkward. Also, like I’ve stated before, I was disappointed that there was not enough emotional connection between Harry and Ginny to make their relationship look geniune on screen (but that’s a whole other topic). Rupert and Emma however, look great together (which I admit is a matter of opinion), but it is undeniable that their dynamic throughout the whole series was much deeper and real…
..SO real actually to the point that sometimes, I can’t distinguish whether they are really acting or it’s something that comes natural. Remember in part two that I noted the fact that playing the same character for a chunk of your life starts to blur the lines between acting and reality. Take for instance, the DVD scene of Ron and Hermione skipping stones on the water. The dialogue was COMPLETELY off the norm for both characters, and it was beyond obvious that it was just Emma and Rupert playing themselves. Emma asks Rupert, after initially showing her the proper technique of throwing the stone, asks him, “So what, kind of like, *throws stone* that?” Forgive me but I can’t imagine Hermione talking in that manner. The scene is beautiful though because it just so believable.
Also, another scene I can think of that seems very natural between the two characters was in the fourth movie, when they were talking to Harry about kissing Cho Chang. The way Rupert looks at Emma and the way he talks to her seems like he’s just normally talking with her while the cameras are rolling; another precious moment! But I think the big moment between these two that touched the world was of course, the laugh they shared after their kiss.
“What’s lovely is the part after they break up and start laughing, I can see that it’s just Rupert and Emma,” says Dan.
“Rupert and I put in this nice laugh they have because it almost seems ridiculous that it hasn’t happened sooner. But when it happens it feels so right that it’s almost like, ‘why didn’t we do this years ago? We are so silly,” says Emma.
Need I say anything more? The whole production obviously couldn’t get enough of how real their reactions were after the kiss; I’m sure the editors decided to keep it in the film as well to show how in love these two really are (and to possibly hint on an attraction between Rupert and Emma). From the looks of it, it seems that Emma’s childish laugh indicated that she was very embarrassed and just had her walls completely come down on her; and Rupert’s soft laugh was that of adoration, as if he was thinking, “I just kissed my best friend, and I loved it. I love her.” (As cheesy as it sounds, put it together with how he’s looking at her.. I know you’ll agree!).
I also want to discuss the scene in Deathly Hallows Part 1 when Ron is giving his speech to Hermione. Emma was obviously thrilled about his “acting” and said that it was so real that she could see how much he loved Hermione. Seeing as to how Rupert cannot distinguish between Hermione and Emma in the first place, it’s obvious that his acting came from a real place in his heart, and that’s why it was just so touching and believable.
That wraps up part three, and in the next post I’ll be wrapping up my whole analysis, touching on topics such as other relationships that the pair had and why it’s important, and also the reason why they just haven’t gotten together.. YET. Haha. Stay tuned everybody :)

it is just a matter of time because for these two we have to be really patient. Emma and Rupert is Ron Hermione in real life. they need something epic (ex. for the case of Ron and Hermione, it was the war) to get them dating.
